Jane decided to host a Chinese New Year party in 2010. Part of the celebration was to eat long-life noodles at midnight.  Here she is with one of her greatest nephews [Wesley Shorey] slurping noodles at midnight.  Meanwhile, outside, it was truly 'bombs bursting in air'.  Check out the video below for a very small sampling.
Fireworks are a big part of this celebration  They start about 2 weeks before CNY and build to a crescendo at midnight. However, it takes 3 days to celebrate CNY so lots more fireworks following the midnight celebration.

Chinese New Year blast

This will give you a very brief look at what it's like during Chinese New Year in China.  This video was taken by Dave on the street in front of our apartment. This was around midnight. It went on for hours. China is always noisy but it gets really noisy during Chinese New Year.

Questions of Life  by Nicky Gumble   [Alpha Course]

Jesus teaching is the foundation of our entire civilisation in the West. Most of our laws were originally based on his teaching. We are making progress in virtually every field of science and technology. We travel faster and know more, and yet in the past 2,000 years no one has improved on the moral teaching of Jesus Christ.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
