John Wesley said, "The New Testament knows nothing of solitary religion." We are called to fellowship with one another. It is not an optional extra. There are two things we simply cannot do alone. We cannot marry alone and we cannot be a Christian alone.

Questions of Life by  Nicky Gumbel

I remember again, ironically, that today more of us in America than anywhere else in the world have the luxury of choice between simplicity and complication of life. And for the most part we, who, could choose simplicity, choose complication.

Been awhile since she wrote this. It is even more applicable today.

How Much Will You Gamble With Your Life?

Here is a church thought, recently written by Dave Thew, director of Shepherd2Shepherd ministries:

We live in an age where spiritual warfare is at a peak and increasing.  Some pastor's, missionaries, and leaders are quitting and getting involved in things which we would never have fathomed a few years ago.
In spite of it all, God is working to bring about a new Spirit  to His Church.  This is why we are called to be a part of God's plan for His Church to turn back to Him and get out of the business of trying to hold it together, which no one
can do.  So God has called us as individuals and as a team to grow together.  We have been given a huge task in human terms.

The following was taken from a book I read recently.  Unfortunately I failed to note book and/or author when I wrote down the quote. Please forgive and also, please feel free to give me that information if it's hanging around the periphery of your cranial cavity.  I love having you smart people in here, so you can assist me in these matters.

The author was writing about Pascal's Wager:
If God does not exist, it does not matter how you wager, for there is nothing to win after death and nothing to lose after death. But if God does exist, your only chance of winning eternal happiness is to believe, and your only chance of losing it is to refuse to believe. As Pascal says, "I should be much more afraid of being mistaken and then finding out that Christianity is true than of being mistaken in believing it to not be true." If you believe too much, you neither win nor lose eternal happiness. But if you believe too little, you risk losing everything.

As I used to share with my brainy Chinese heathen friends:

Please tell me what I have lost if I am wrong.
They usually didn't answer the question but floundered around trying to avoid answering.
So, I would answer it for them:
"If I am wrong, I have lost nothing. I have had a marvelous life. I have been so blessed [can you use that term if there is no God?].  Of course there have been difficult times, but I have had a most enjoyable life.  If I didn't believe in God I would have never come to China; and that has been one of the greatest experiences in my life. [Being very nationalistic, most Chinese smile and nod in agreement with the last part.]

Then, the second part:
Now, if you are wrong and I am right, what have you lost?
The response is usually just a shrug and slight smile like they know where I'm going with this.
So I usually answer this one too:
"You have lost everything. " I believe that there is a Heaven and there is a Hell. I believe that the only way to get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. It is a free gift offered unto me, unto you. You must reach out and accept that gift.  It's a very expensive gift for it cost Jesus everything. That is the only way to go to Heaven. That's what the Bible says.
If you refuse this free gift, then your destiny is Hell? Do you know about Hell?  It is a terrible, terrible place.
If you are wrong, you have lost everything - everything in this life and the life to come."

After pondering the above, think on this:

Two/thirds of the world does not know of the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  They do not know that there is a Heavenly Father who loves them so. They do not know that there is a Savior who died that they might have life everlasting--life abundant starting right here, right now.

So, that evokes the question:
What are you doing about it?

From Genesis 12 on the Bible is about reaching out to bring others into the Kingdom of God.

That my friend is where the great fun of life is.  That is the joy of our salvation - sharing it with others.

How much fun are you having in this life?

Revel in the goodness of our God

Good Morning,

As my grandfather used to say, "What in tarnation is going on?"

I have no clue where "tarnation" is or what it is, but I'm beginning to better understand the question.

I've heard others say, "What in Heaven's name is going on?"
I think that might be getting a bit closer to it.

Or how about "All hell's breaking loose"

That seems like a real possibility too.

It appears to me that the battle in the Heavenlies has intensified.
And if the battle is in the Heavenlies, then that means it is right over our heads.

More to come on this in a minute

It is a good thing to give thanks unto The Lord

Great is His faithfulness
